Several Chatham-Kent residents are joining thousands of people around the world who are rallying against comments made by US President Donald Trump.

Derry McKeever with the Chatham-Kent Social Justice Coalition says they’re holding a rally at 11 o clock this morning at the Civic Centre in Chatham.

“To show our displeasure with the statements by President Donald Trump around moving the (US embassy) from Tel Aviv in Israel to Jerusalem, which has caused terrific unrest and dissatisfaction,” McKeever explains.

McKeever says Jerusalem has been an open city for 4000 years where several religions claim the city as the holiest of places.

He says Trump potentially moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem risks making the city a closed capital of the Israeli state.
