smokedetectorThe Chatham-Kent Fire Service is once again reminding residents about their CHiRP Home Safety Checks.

Three people died in a fire in Brampton earlier this month, and CKFS community safety officer Whitney Burk says they don’t want that happening here.

“What we will do is call you back, and set up an appointment. We’ll come and visit your home between 3:00-5:00pm. The fire crews come to your house”, Burk says. “We’re there for about 10 minutes. We just check your alarms, make sure that they’re working, that they’re located in the right spots and that they’re not expired.”

Burk says there are no fees and no fines for non-compliance. www.ckfes.ca or 519-360-1998 to set up an appointment.
