Potential back-to-work legislation to end the almost five-week old college strike is being delayed.

The Ontario government attempted to introduce legislation yesterday, but it’s NDP is blocking the way.

New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath says while she’d like to see students back in the classroom Monday morning, she’d rather see it done by reaching a deal.

The College Employer Council’s latest deal was put to a faculty vote this week, but was rejected.

The strike, which began October 15th, is now the longest strike in college history in Ontario.

MPPs will be back at Queens Park today to try to get the legislation passed and the Liberals say they intend to sit through the weekend if necessary.
