For the past 10 years, First Presbyterian Church in Chatham has been helping out one deserving family with its Backyard Mission Project.
Each year, a team of volunteers spends a weekend fixing up a home, anything from general yard cleanup and landscaping to painting and exterior repairs. They will also install wheelchair ramps and replace eaves troughs. The only thing they won’t do is roof repairs due to liability issues.
In order to qualify, the recipient must own their home, live on the premises, and have homeowner insurance.
This year’s project will take place July 20th to the 21st. If you know of a deserving family, the contact information can be found below.
