All told the company is donating $6,000 to the bicycle safety program, which will help pay for new bikes and safety equipment, as well as cover the cost of buses to get students to and from the Village.

Suzanne Shea with Enbridge says the company is happy to help out.

“Enbridge’s Talbot Wind Farm is making this donation because we are happy to sponsor organizations in our community and help strengthen our community,” Shea says, “especially safety-minded organizations like the Safety Village that provide such a great experience and education for kids.”

Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village, Barb Lovell, says the program, taught by Chatham-Kent Police, continues to grow.

“Every year the program is always getting better and because of Enbridge and their generosity, we’re able to provide more new bicycles,” Lovell says. “Without their support we wouldn’t be able to get all the kids here in grade four to be part of this program.”

Since 2006, more than 30,000 kids have been part of the bike safety course at the Safety Village.
