The annual Chatham-Kent Police Service Citizen’s Police Academy is ready to roll again and your window to apply is now open.

It’s billed as an opportunity to build communication and trust between police and the community.

“The goal of our academy is to give members of the public an inside look at policing in Chatham-Kent and the challenges that we face,” says Constable Renee Cowell. “We want to give everyone a better understanding of what we do and why we do it.

The academy is made up of 12 different weekly courses, including presentations by the Drugs and Street Crime unit, the Chief of Police, Major Crime Investigation, and Identification and Forensics, among others.

“There are some nights where you are in a classroom getting presentations from our specialty units, but there are other nights where you’re doing a ride-along, you might be out at the range, getting a tour of police headquarters, we really have you out and about, moving around the municipality.”

There are only 30 openings and you can apply now at  www.ckpolice.com
