Council will discuss taking the first step to potentially shrinking the size of council tonight.

The debate will centre on adding a question to the 2018 municipal ballot.

Mayor Randy Hope says he thinks it needs to happen, but not because of any perceived cost savings.

“Your expenditure on council is so minimal compared to the overall budget,” Hope says. “I want to talk about representation because that’s going to be important, I don’t want people to get caught up on thinking there’s a pile of money to be saved, what it is is about making sure that everybody has equal say and equal opportunity to be heard.”
