OPP are concerned about the number of fatalities on provincial roads last weekend.

The Civic Holiday long weekend saw several fatalities on OPP-patrolled roads.

Officers say 6 people died in collisions, including a 3-year-old who was struck by a pick-up truck at Pinery Provincial Park, and a 6-year-old who was in a vehicle involved in a collision with a transport truck.

It’s the highest number of fatal road accidents since August 2011.

Police say more than 8500 traffic-related charges were laid this past weekend – 5000 of which were for speeding.
