Grassy 2 Rock is cancelled.
Organizers of last year’s popular event had hoped to make it an annual occurrence, but outside forces means the event won’t happen in 2017.
Mayor Randy Hope says he’s disappointed.
“Shortly after the last [event], we sent a letter to Walpole Island thanking them for considering and allowing us to do that. We asked them to consider this year; we waited and waited with no response. I went to the Band Council – the meeting after that, they decided to not grant permission”, Hope says.
Hope says finding a different location isn’t as easy as it sounds, and at this point would be too difficult and time-consuming.
