The Sydenham River overflowing its banks, February 21, 2018.

Conservation officials are still keeping a close eye on local waterways.

The Sydenham and its tributaries remain quite high, but the St Clair Region Conservation Authority says the river has peaked and is slowly starting to recede.

However, it will likely be Friday morning before waterways are back to normal, and with slippery banks and debris-filled water, residents are urged to steer clear.
