Mayor Randy Hope says if the province wants to eliminate natural gas then they best be prepared for a fight.
The mayor says trying to eliminate natural gas is a slap in the face to not only Chatham-Kent but to rural Ontario.
He says one of the reasons people switched to gas from electricity is that it is regulated better and was more cost effective.
Also a concern is that Union Gas is one of Chatham-Kent’s biggest employers.
Hope has been meeting with other mayors across the province and says they will be making a public statement in the near future on the issue.
