The Children’s Treatment Centre is another step closer to reaching its goal of having a new facility in Chatham.

Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance is donating $100,000 to the cause.

Campaign chair Mike Grail says it’s great news.

“A couple weeks ago, we got the support from the Municipality for $1.5-million. That really helped with our overall contribution of $6-million that we have to put toward the project locally. $100,000 coming from Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance is incredible, and what it’s going to do for the Children’s Treatment Centre and the community is going to be really outstanding”, says Grail.

Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance President and CEO Kevin Konecny says they are happy to help.

“We’re always looking for great community projects to get behind in Kent and Essex county. When Mike came to present the cause, they had a very compelling message about how this would support not only the kids in Chatham, but other groups as well. They were talking about the whole area, and I think that’s really what sold it”, says Konecny.

The campaign has now surpassed the halfway mark to its goal from the community, which will help secure funding from the province to cover the $22-million cost of the building itself.
