Municipal Offices

  • Municipal offices including service desks will be closed Monday September 7 in recognition of the Labour Day holiday.

 

OPERATIONAL SERVICES ON THE LABOUR DAY WEEKEND

 

Transit

  • CK Transit services will run on Saturday September 5, but not on Sunday or Monday, with the exception of Seasonal Inter-Urban Transit Route S1 (“The Beach Bus”) that serves Chatham, Erieau and Mitchell’s Bay with stops in Grande Point, Pain Court, Charing Cross and Blenheim. It operates Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM until Labour Day, and then its service ends for the year.  Route maps and schedules are available from your local municipal centre or online at www.chatham-kent.ca.

 

Pools and Arenas

  • Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool will be closed Monday, September 7.
  • Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool is closed for maintenance Monday, August 31 to Tuesday, September 8. It will re-open Wednesday, September 9 with a new fall schedule.
  • All Chatham-Kent arenas are closed on Monday, September 7.

 

Public Libraries

  • All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library will be closed Monday, September 7 for the Labour Day holiday. Branches resume regular business hours Tuesday, September 8.

Culture and Tourism

  • Thames Art Gallery, Chatham- Kent Museum, Milner Heritage House are all open Monday September 7 from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
  • Ridge House is 1:00-5:00 PM
  • The Cultural Centre Box Office will be closed on Monday September 7
  • The Labour Day weekend hours for the RM Classic Car Exhibit and the Chatham-Kent Visitor Information Centre are as follows:

o    Open September 5, Saturday 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

o    Open September 6, Sunday 12:00 – 4:30 pm

o    Closed September 7, Labour Day Monday

 

Waste and Recycling

  • Garbage and recycling collection services during the week of Labour Day September 7 will be delayed by one day for residents receiving curbside collection by Progressive Waste Solutions. Please refer to the Recycling and Waste Collection Guide for further details.
  • The Harwich Transfer Station, Wallaceburg Transfer Station and Chatham Leaf & Yard Depot will be closed Monday in recognition of Labour Day. All other transfer stations will be open regular hours and will not be affected by the holiday.

 

 

Health and Family Services

  • Health and Family Services – offices of Employment and Social Services; Housing Services, Children’s Services and Public Health will be closed on Labour Day – Monday September7.
  • Clinic Services will be closed on the Labour Day Monday.
  • Essential after-hours Public Health services are available by calling 1-866-446-8207.
  • Riverview Gardens long-term care home – administrative offices will be closed on the Labour Day Monday, but facilities will be operational.

 

Cemeteries

  • Cemetery staff will be on call to handle cemetery business for funeral home operations.
