As the Wallaceburg Lakers look to regroup, they’re also hoping to get some more community support.

President of Hockey Operations, Darryl Lucio says it takes more than just hockey players to make a great team.

“I’m still looking for volunteers – that’s my number 1 priority right now,” says Lucio. “Volunteers make a hockey team successful.”

He says you don’t need to be a hockey fan to get involved.

“We’re looking for people to help at Bingos – we’re going to do a golf tournament this year so we need people to volunteer then. But then we’re also looking for Game Day volunteers – people that want to help at the front gate and watch over. And if you’re a Game Day volunteer, you get to watch a lot of hockey”, says Lucio.

Lucio says volunteers can support the team in a number of ways, including helping out at fundraising events like bingo and the team’s golf tournament, or working the front gate on game days.
