Carmen McGregor and Aaron Hall celebrate election night results in downtown Wallaceburg.

There will be a lot of fresh faces around Council Chambers in the coming months.

Voters in Ward Five have given Carmen McGregor a second term to represent Wallaceburg on Chatham-Kent Council.

McGregor received the most votes among the four hopefuls with Aaron Hall placing second.

McGregor wants to be a mentor to Hall the same way outgoing Councillor Jeff Wesley was a mentor to her four years ago

“You have to be a team in order to build the community,” McGregor said.  “You can’t have councillors that are rowing against each other.”

Hall thanked his friends, family and people of Wallaceburg for their support and offered his congratulations to the two unsuccessful candidates, Nick Cadotte and Randy McNeil.

“They ran great campaigns and I hope that they continue to have that energy and have that enthusiasm for the community and hopefully they can give back in other ways,” he said during an interview with CKXS last night.

In Chatham, former councillor Marjorie Crew took the top spot in Ward 6, Michael Bondy, Brock McGregor and Doug Sulman were all re-elected, joined by newcomers Karen Kirkwood-Whyte and Amy Finn.

Long time municipal politician and former Dresden Mayor Joe Faas was returned to office in Ward 4.  He’ll be joined at the council table by Jamie McGrail who replaces Leon Leclair, who did not run this time around.

Mark Authier and Melissa Harrigan were elected in West Kent.

Trevor Thompson, along with newcomers Anthony Ceccacci and Mary Clare Latimer received the most votes in South Kent.

Incumbent Steve Pinsonneault will be joined by John Wright in East Kent.
