With a provincial election on the horizon, MPP Monte McNaughton says it’s time to stop using Chatham-Kent as an experiment.

“I think the whole Green Energy Act and this government approach by the Liberals and supported by the NDP to build all these wind turbines across the province has been an experiment that has failed miserably,” the Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Conservative says. “It’s the single-biggest reason why hydro bills have gone up, because of the renewables, we’re seeing water well issues in Chatham-Kent.”

McNaughton says other issues, like endangered species and migratory birds, will be coming to the forefront with the proposed Otter Creek Wind Farm as well.

He says affordability will is another major issue, in terms of the rising cost of hydro, taxes, and fees.

Renewable energy contracts and wind farms will be hot topics leading up to the provincial election this coming June.
