As parents prepare for a one-day strike affecting the Lambton Kent District School Board on Thursday, more strike days are already looming.

The Elementary Teachers Federation is escalating its job action in an effort to pressure the Ontario government into returning to the bargaining table.

Unless a tentative deal can be reached, the union has announced rotating strikes will continue next week, with local public elementary teachers walking off the job on Tuesday, February 4th.

And a full province-wide strike is also being planned for next Thursday, February 6th.

The teachers’ union maintains the primary issues are class sizes, supports for students with special needs, and violence in the classroom.  The government insists it really all boils down to wages.
