salvation-army-luncheonThe Salvation Army is kicking off its portion of the Every Plate Full campaign, a nation-wide food drive organized by Food Banks Canada.

Captain Stephanie Watkinson says a barbecue is being held in Wallaceburg tomorrow from 12 until 1, with a special guest making an appearance.

“We will be unveiling our new mascot, ‘Cpt. Shields’ tomorrow,” says Watkinson. “So we’re hoping the rain holds off so I’m inviting people to come out and see Cpt. Shields, who will be participating in a lot of different events.”

As many as 500 families in Wallaceburg and Chatham rely on the Salvation Army food bank each month.
