With a potential Canada Post strike or lockout looming, the mun
icipality of Chatham-Kent is working to ensure anyone who receives Ontario Works cheques by mail will still receive their payments this month.
Director of Employment and Social Services, Valerie Colasanti, says anyone who doesn’t have direct deposit set up can pick up their checks at their nearest municipal service centre later this week.
“If you live in Dresden, Tupperville or Wallaceburg, you can pick them up at the Wallaceburg Service Centre,” says Colasanti. “That’ll be between 9 and 4 on the 29th and 30th.”
Pick-up locations will also be held in Chatham, Blenheim, Tilbury, and Ridgetown. Clients will need to bring one piece of photo identification with them, or two pieces of non-photo ID.
