The Municipality is looking at what it can do with the WDC rail.

Purchased from CSX Transportation five years ago, the 30-mile long rail line has been unused and officials are looking at selling off the assets.

A few options are on the table – either separate the rail line components and selling them individually, and sell the entire line as-is.

The line is currently owned by a company owned by the Municipality. Council approved a $75,000 loan to the company for its 2018 operations. To date, the company has been given nearly 5-million dollars in loans to purchase and maintain the line.

Meanwhile, Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Wesley is asking for all obsolete rail way crossings and signage to be removed to improve local road conditions.
