The Friends of the New Animal Shelter are close to their fundraising goal.
Fundraising for the new animal shelter in Chatham began in 2015, with a construction date slated for this coming spring.
The fundraising committee has $1.2-million of its $1.5-million goal, and officials say they’re confident they’ll be able to raise the rest by the end of the year.
Council will vote tonight on the architect for the building.
The committee announced over the summer that it hoped to be able to start construction in the spring of 2018.
