Wallaceburg’s Travis Laur is a very well known local musician and singer-songwriter. With music in his bloodlines, Laur was a founding member of popular local-based groups ForClosure and CreekStreet.
Laur has tackled his own solo project in recent years and always leaves onlookers astonished with his raw, powerful vocal.
Gaining a following with online videos, both covers and originals, Travis Laur has been a mainstay on 99.1 CKXS since its inception. His latest original “Sunshine Girl” can be heard regularly at his hometown station, 99.1 FM.
These days, fighting the never-ending battle that is the music business is the furthest from Laur’s mind. Travis, a brand new husband and recent new father of a 5-month-old son, is knee-deep in the fight of his life alongside his close-knit family as he undergoes treatment for Hodgkins Lympoma. Laur was in remission mere months ago. After a relapse, Travis is currently undergoing heavy chemotherapy and an upcoming stem cell transplant.
A benefit concert is being held for Travis and family this Saturday night, December 10th at The Moose Lodge in Wallaceburg. Tickets can be purchased from the Laur family and from The Moose Lodge.
