Mitchell’s Bay will be awash in grade nine students today for the annual WDSS Tartan Tour. wdss

Organizer Nancy Schinkelshoek says starting high school can be stressful, and the Tour helps to take some of the edge off.

“We have every grade nine in a group of eight, and there are two senior students,” Schinkelshoek explains. “We do this so they can make a caring connection with someone who’s a senior in our school because we know that students who are connected are engaged, and those who engage see success.”

Schinkelshoek says Wallaceburg is the only high school in the Lambton Kent District School Board that takes its students off campus for this type of event.
