The hard work of the Grade 5/6 class at Tecumseh Public School will send a little more than $2200 to the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign.

The Tecumseh Hospital Helpers Alliance sold popcorn, held hot dog days, a raffle, and a school-wide candy hunt, raising a total of $2219.85.

Teacher Lisa Pieta says it’s not just about the money.

“The growing that they’ve done has been incredible, they’ve learned skills that are hard to teach,” Pieta says. “You can teach the steps of problem solving, but to actually solve a problem and have everyone walk away feeling satisfied that they were listened to and that problem was resolved, the kids have stepped up to the plate and they now know what that feels like.”

Foundation officials hope to have the $6.9-million DI campaign wrapped up by the end of the month.
