Accessible Kayak Launch Approved For Erieau’s Third Street.
Kayakers are one step closer to pushing off after council approved a launch at the end of Third Street in Erieau.
The project has been in development since November 2023 when council allocated $255,000 for two launches on Lake Erie as part of the 2024 capital budget. The launches were originally planned for Third Street and Stass Lane.
Administration recommended not to continue with plans for the Stass Lane site, highlighting the limited site access, narrow property, and limited seasonal parking as the main reasons to not move forward.
Staff estimate that the Third Street kayak launch will cost approximately $210,000 and is within the approved budget.
