144 Active COVID-19 Cases In CK With 18 New Infections

The number of active COVID-19 has dipped slightly in Chatham-Kent.

According to Chatham-Kent Public Health, there were 18 new infections recorded on Thursday and 19 cases resolved, slightly lowering the active caseload in the municipality to 143.

There are currently ten outbreaks across the municipality, including eight elementary schools, 18 cases now linked to a recent wedding, and 15 at a manufacturing plant.

Nine people are being treated for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Six of the nine are not fully vaccinated against the virus. Four of the patients are currently being treated in the intensive care unit.

ICU beds are currently 70 per cent full, while occupancy of the medical, surgical, and critical care units sits at 82 per cent.

Across Ontario, 2,421 new infections were reported on Thursday, as well as nine deaths related to the disease.
