17 New Cases In C-K, 1 In Hospital, 16 Recoveries, 30 Active

CK Public Health is confirming 17 new cases of COVID-19 in the municipality over the weekend. One Chatham-Kent resident is now in hospital with the coronavirus.
The health unit is also reporting 16 additional recoveries, with the active case count only increasing by one, to 30.
A total of 14 active cases are currently listed as “pending” the cause of transmission on the Public Health website, 12 cases are close contract exposures, two are linked to a workplace outbreak, one is connected to a community setting outbreak believed to be a place of worship in Blenheim. One case has an unknown exposure.
Public Health still has three local outbreaks declared, one in a congregate living setting, one workplace and one place of worship. There are not any active cases in Chatham-Kent currently linked to the congregate living setting, but Public Health has not yet declared that outbreak over.
Chatham-Kent has reported a total of 463 cases with 430 recoveries and three deaths.
Provincially, Ontario reported another 1,487 new infections, setting a new record for the seven-day average.
Windsor-Essex and Middlesex-London were both moved to the Yellow “Protect Zone” of the new Ontario Framework as of 12AM this morning. The region will now have enhanced targeted enforcement, fines and enhanced education to limit further transmission, while applying public health measures in high risk settings. The government says the assigned tiers last for a minimum of 28 days. The status of each region will be reassessed on a weekly basis.
Chatham-Kent remains in the Green “Prevent” stage, with standard measures applied.
Premier Doug Ford and Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliot have each said the government will soon layout recommendations for the holiday season as well as information related to this year’s holiday break from school.
