This year’s hardware was handed out at The Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame annual dinner Saturday night.
Tom and Lorri Moynihan’s work as builders of the Wallaceburg minor girls basketball program got them recognized as the winners of the The Mike Childs Memorial Award of Excellence.
“Lorri and I were both elementary coaches. And to tell you the truth in the early years, Lorri had a team that went to the county finals, and I had a team that went 0-14 and lost every game that year,” says Tom, Moynihan. “And I said, ‘There’s something we have to do to build skills for every girl that wants to play basketball.'”
Former Toronto Blue Jay slugger Jesse Barfield was the guest speaker.
