Provincial Police continue to investigate following a transport collision that left tens of thousands of litres of fuel on the 401 west of Tilbury.

Officials with the OPP say a fuel tanker rolled over on Highway 401 shortly after 3 o’clock Sunday morning, closing the westbound lanes between County Road 42 and Comber Side Road/Highway 77.

Authorities say roughly 20-thousand liters of fuel were spilled onto the road and into a nearby ditch.

Crews from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks were called to the scene to contain the spill, and the westbound lanes were reopened around 8 o’clock last night.

No one was hurt in the crash.

Anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision is asked to contact Essex OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
