JASON HENRY – NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Ogiimaa (Chief) Henry is confirmed as NDP candidate for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Ogiimaa (Chief) Jason Henry has been officially confirmed as the NDP Candidate for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. “I am honoured to be able to represent the people of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. There is a lot I want to do to help people in my community if I get the chance,” said Henry. “I am especially focused on making addiction treatments and harm reduction support more accessible and pushing the government to implement the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commision’s report so indigenous people can have truth and justice.” Chief Henry is an Anishnabeg member of the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. Born and raised in Kettle and Stony Point, Chief Henry has spent his life within his community. He continues to reside in the community as a proud husband and father of three. Chief Henry is presently serving his second term as the elected Chief and is dedicated to moving his community of Kettle and Stony and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex forward with Jagmeet Singh’s NDP. During the COVID-19 pandemic New Democrats have fought hard to make sure the most vulnerable Canadians get the help they need. When Trudeau offered an EI that left working families behind, Jagmeet fought and won so that millions of Canadians received $2,000 cheques. When Trudeau offered short changed businesses with a 10 per cent wage subsidy, the NDP delivered a 75 per cent wage subsidy so that millions of Canadians could keep their jobs. “People in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex have been facing some difficult challenges over the past few months and will have more to overcome once the COVID-19 pandemic is over. I promise that I will fight for support for the people who need it most,” said Henry. “We have a lot of work to do to build back our economy once this is all over. I will always make sure that the voices of everyone in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, especially those who often go unnoticed, are heard.” Henry was nominated after Justin Trudeau called a selfish election despite the growing number of COVID-19 cases across the country.
JEREMY HULL – GREEN PARTY OF CANADA
I have been a municipal worker for 15 years so the understanding of funding to communities is second nature to me. I understand more than most just what it takes to keep communities alive.
Before this I was the owner and operator of two successful businesses and understand just how challenging it is to run a business and balance a family and home life at the same time. With more support from the federal level comes more successful businesses which in return creates more jobs, more revenue, and a better way of life in each community
I have six children all grown up now and competing in the world for secure, well paying jobs, and a sustainable way of living. So again I understand the need for fair wages, secure jobs and affordable housing.
These are just a few of the issues that your local MP is going to work at achieving. Other issues would include fighting for better healthcare services and affordable medications. Stricter firearm laws, and not restrictions, the creation of new green jobs in the area to fight the climate challenge we all face. Housing, mental Illness and homelessness are also issues that need to be taken care of. And they need taken care of now. As well as shape and create a economical stable Canada that our children will thrive in.
