Five new names will be added to the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame.
Janet Campbell of the former Township of Harwich is considered the Heart of 4H in Chatham-Kent. She has focused on mentoring youth, supporting fellow volunteers, and strengthening agricultural-based programs to build a stronger, more resilient agricultural community.
Barry Robert Kearney of the former Township of Howard spent 48 years in the specialization of customized planting equipment to meet the needs of local farmers.
Edward J. Tomecek of the former Township of Chatham is being recognized for his significant role in maintaining the viability and future of the Ontario processing vegetable industry.
And the final two nominees are Edgar and Patricia VanRabaeys of the Thamesville area, who have worked side by side to advocate for fairness within the agricultural industry. Organizers say their kindness, mentorship, and work ethic left a deep impression on local youth whom they mentored.
The five inductees will be recognized during a ceremony on Tuesday, November 17 at Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club.
