The local chapter of the United Way is raising awareness about a free, confidential helpline that connects individuals and families to vital community resources.

United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent will celebrate 211 Day on Tuesday, February 11, to promote the essential service that is available by phone, text, or online.

“211 is more than a helpline—it’s a lifeline for people facing difficult circumstances,” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent, in a news release. “We are proud to fund this critical service in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, ensuring everyone in our community has access to the support they need, when they need it.

211 connects residents to local programs and services such as access to food banks, meal programs, and emergency housing services; mental health and addiction resources; employment and job training opportunities; health and wellness programs; crisis intervention, and more.

The helpline can be accessed by calling or texting 2-1-1, or by visiting 211.ca.
