OSPCA Recognized Locally

ospcaThe Ontario SPCA is being recognized by Chatham-Kent Police for their work in breaking up a dog fighting ring in Tilbury last fall.

Chief Inspector Brad Dewar says receiving a Chief’s Commendation is a great honour.

“It’s humbling to be here and to receive such an amazing acknowledgement and certainly it was a success because of the partnership between the police and the OSPCA,” says Dewar. “Working together is what made this investigation successful.”

Meantime, the fate of the dogs continues to hang in the balance as a court case drags on over whether to euthanize 21 of the dogs deemed by the animal welfare organization as aggressive.

Another 18 dogs are in the process of being rehabilitated before they can be adopted out of province.
