25 New COVID Cases in Chatham-Kent

Another jump in new cases of COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent.

Today’s report from Public Health includes 25 new infections and 18 cases resolved, raising the active caseload to 162.

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, 13 patients are being treated for COVID-19.

Four COVID-positive patients are in intensive care, two of whom are on ventilators.

Hospital officials say of the 13 COVID patients, only three are fully vaccinated.

ICU occupancy sits at 90%, while the hospital’s medical, surgical, and critical care beds are 84.5% filled.

16 CKHA staff are currently off work because of COVID.

Across Chatham-Kent, public health officials are keeping track of eight outbreaks, six of which are connected to elementary schools, one at Riverview Gardens long term care home, and a manufacturing plant.

Across Ontario, the Ministry of Health is reporting 5790 new cases today, a single day record.
