401 Crash Leads to a Dozen Charges

Drunk driving, drug trafficking, and weapons charges have all been laid against a Windsor resident following an incident on the 401 east of Chatham-Kent.

Officers from Elgin and Middlesex OPP responded to a crash near Dutton Saturday morning, but say the driver took off on foot as police arrived.

After a brief struggle, an officer used a taser to get the accused under control and into custody.

Police recovered a loaded handgun as well as Canadian currency and illicit drugs.

One Middlesex OPP officer suffered minor injuries during the struggle and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The 25-year-old suspect is now facing 12 charges.
