Drug charges have been laid following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
The Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded to the eastbound lanes of the highway near Orford Road on Monday at around 2 p.m., after a passenger vehicle left the road and entered the centre median.
No serious injuries were reported.
Responding officers noticed the driver was showing signs of impairment and he was arrested without incident. A quantity of illicit drugs were also located and seized.
As a result, a 46-year-old Kanata man is now charged with impaired driving, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of opioids for the purpose of trafficking.
The man was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days. He has since been remanded into custody following a bail hearing.
