401 Crash Leads To Impaired Driving Charges

A Harrow man is facing drunk driving charges following a collision on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded to the eastbound lanes of the highway west of Bloomfield Road after a passenger vehicle crashed into reflective posts and left the scene at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The vehicle was located and stopped by police on the highway near Orford Road. The driver was allegedly showing signs of intoxication and was taken into custody without incident for further tests.

As a result, a 42-year-old Harrow man is now charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

The accused was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

The man will appear in court to answer the charges next month.
