An annual lunch held in support of those in need in the community is being hailed as a huge success.
Monday marked the 49th annual Childs Family Luncheon at the Black Goose Grill.
Roughly 600 meals, both dine in and take-out were served and $13,810 in donations raised.
The funds will be divided with 75% going to support the Salvation Army and 25% to the Wallaceburg Pantry.
Since its inception, the luncheon has raised a total of $384,207 to support those in need in the community. Organizer Mark Childs says for the 50th anniversary next year, they are hoping to hit the $400,000 mark.
Editors note: As of Friday, December 15, donations for the Childs Family Luncheon had grown to $16,030, making it the most successful fundraiser to date.
