Another COVID-19 Outbreak Declared At CKHA

Just over a week after the end of one COVID-19 outbreak, another has been declared at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA).

Chatham-Kent Public Health declared the outbreak on Thursday after two health care acquired cases of the virus were reported in the Medicine A Unit at CKHA’s Chatham site.

“A number of additional initiatives have been implemented in response to the outbreak on the Medicine A Unit. CKHA will continue following these measures until Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health rescinds the outbreak order,” the hospital said in a news release.

The last outbreak at the hospital was declared on August 4 in Medicine B Unit. The outbreak was declared over on August 22 with a total of 14 COVID-19 cases reported.

According to CK Public Health, there has been a total of 19 outbreaks of COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance since March 2020.
