Active COVID Cases Holding Steady, One Outbreak Declared

Public health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent.

Officials say three cases have been identified in a congregate living setting.

Overall, there are still 42 active cases in Chatham-Kent with five new cases reported today, balanced out by five recoveries.

There are currently eight COVID patients being treated for the virus at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, down from 11 on Wednesday. That includes one person being treated in the ICU.

Health Alliance officials say all are CK residents and none have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

At the provincial level, Health Minister Christine Elliot announced 678 new cases today.

Hospitalizations across Ontario now sit at 302, plus another 165 being treated in ICU’s province-wide.
