Active COVID Cases Up By Two Since Friday

Despite over two dozen new COVID cases identified over the weekend, the number of active cases in Chatham-Kent is holding relatively steady.

Public Health is reporting 27 new cases, and 25 resolved, raising the active caseload to 70, just two higher than Friday’s update.

Officials are still keeping tabs on three outbreaks, one at Kids Connection Daycare, St Ursula Catholic School, and McNaughton Avenue Public School, all in Chatham.

There are four COVID-positive patients being treated at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, two of whom are in the ICU, one on a ventilator.

Hospital officials say just one of the four COVID patients has been fully vaccinated.

Across Chatham-Kent, of the COVID cases identified since July 1st, 73% were unvaccinated, 12.6% were partially vaccinated, not yet protected, or had an undetermined vaccination status. Less than 14% were fully vaccinated with both shots.
