Ag Ministry Announces Assistance For Temporary Foreign Workers

Ontario Agriculture Minister Ernie Hardeman has announced a new initiative to help temporary foreign workers and others in the agri-food industry.

Hardeman announced a 118 thousand dollar plan to produce COVID-19 materials called the Cultural Resources Library.

The literature will provide guidelines on how to prevent the spread of the virus, and also focuses on workers safety and wellness.

“Our international workers have grown and harvested our food and helped keep our food supply chain strong throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. “These new resources will ensure that all of our agri-food workers are well informed so they can help stop the spread and keep COVID-19 out of our workplaces.”

The information will be printed in several languages and distributed to farms, greenhouses and food processing facilities across the province.

Its bring done in partnership with the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association.
