Alleged Drug Dealers Arrested During Traffic Stop

A routine traffic stop in Wallaceburg has led to drug trafficking charges for four people.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers stopped a vehicle on Elizabeth Street shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday after noticing a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, the driver provided false information to officers, which led to his arrest. The three other occupants were also arrested.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a quantity of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, along with evidence indicative of drug trafficking.

As a result, a 21-year-old Scarborough man, a 31-year-old Walpole Island woman, a 21-year-old Wallaceburg man, and a 19-year-old Wallaceburg woman have been charged with three counts each of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The Scarborough man is additionally charged with obstructing a peace officer and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance. The other three suspects were released from custody with a December court date.
