The Automated Licence Plate Recognition system snagged an alleged drunk driver in Chatham.

Authorities say the system notified an OPP officer about a passing vehicle on Grand Avenue East shortly after 6 Tuesday morning.

The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was arrested.

The 28-year-old from Oro-Medonte Township near Barrie has been charged with driving while impaired, driving while under suspension, failing to update the address on his driver’s license, and failing to have an insurance card.

The accused was also issued a 90-day license suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
