Alleged Impaired Driver Found Idling At Intersection

A Chatham man is facing charges after idling too long at an intersection in the middle of the night prompted a call to local police.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to Gladstone Avenue in Chatham to investigate the suspicious vehicle at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

Authorities located the vehicle and alleged that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and refused to take a breath test. Officers also discovered he did not have a valid driver’s license.

As a result, the 30-year-old accused was arrested and his vehicle was towed from the scene. He is now charged with impaired driving and refusing a demand and was also ticketed for having a suspended license. The man was later released with a future court date.
