A local man will have to answer to a judge in court after allegedly waving a knife at a pedestrian.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to Partridge Crescent in Chatham at around 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday after a man on a bicycle was seen yelling at a pedestrian and brandishing a knife.

Officers located the man in the area and he was arrested. Following a search of the man, police allegedly seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and opioids.

As a result, a 53-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with assault with a weapon, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He has since been released from custody with an October court date.
