A local man is facing break-and-enter charges after police allegedly found him on the roof of a building in Wallaceburg.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were contacted shortly before 8 a.m. on Saturday after a man was seen inside an abandoned building on Wallace Street.
When police arrived, they discovered a man on the roof and attempted to speak with him. However, the man jumped off the building and attempted to run from the officers. Following a pursuit, a suspect was arrested.
Damage was also caused to a police cruiser during the arrest.
As a result, a 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with break-and-enter to commit an indictable offence and mischief under $5,000. He was later released from custody with a February court date.
