Alleged Shoplifter Arrested In Tilbury

A local woman is facing charges following a shoplifting incident in Tilbury.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a woman attended a retail store on Mill Street shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, and attempted to leave with concealed merchandise without attempting to pay.

Officers were called to the store and took a suspect into custody.

As a result, a 39-year-old Tilbury woman is now charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and two counts of breaching a probation order.

She was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
