An arrest has been made nearly two months after a shoplifting incident in Wheatley.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a woman attended a retail store on Talbot Street East at around 2:30 p.m. on September 27 and was seen taking several items and putting them into bags. When she attempted to leave without paying, the woman was confronted by an employee, whom she ignored before leaving the store.
Authorities reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and were able to identify a suspect. An arrest warrant was then issued for a 42-year-old Wheatley woman.
The accused was located on Tuesday on Erie Street North and arrested. She is now charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property. The woman was held in custody for a bail hearing.
