Police have tracked down an alleged shoplifter following a theft from a Wallaceburg business earlier this month.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the retail store on McNaughton Avenue at around 7 a.m. on October 16 after a woman left the store with merchandise without making an attempt to pay.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant after identifying a suspect.
Police located the accused, a 28-year-old Chatham-Kent woman, on Wallace Street at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday and took her into custody.
The woman is now charged with theft under $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000. She was later released from custody with a November court date.
